I’ve decided to start a series to keep my travel inspiration flowing! There is so much of this big beautiful world that I’d like to see, and I want to learn about more and more places. Every Wednesday I’ll be posting a new destination I’ve been dying to visit, and so I invite you to leave countries from your own bucket list in the comments below!

First up, a destination that has been at the top of my list for years, is Cuba. The last few years has seen fewer and fewer travel restrictions to Cuba, and I have been dying to take advantage of the times as I’m sure you’ve seen several other people note as well!

I’d love to learn more about this little island and it’s history and culture, specifically it’s architecture–I think it’s beautiful. Obviously, as this series states, these are places I’m wanderlusting after and have yet to travel to! So I only have pictures to go off…but from what I can gather Cuba is a rich culture full of great food and music with a long and fascinating history. You know that little song, “In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue”–yeah, Cuba was the second island Christopher Columbus’s landed on during his “discovery” of the Americas. I’d love learn about the native Cuban tribes (the Taíno, the Guanajatabey, and the Ciboney people), Spain’s rule from 1492 — 1898 (so long!), and more of U. S. and Cuban relations throughout the 20th century.

My top spots to explore would be Old Havana, one of the smaller islands (I’m thinking Cayo Levisa?), Viñales (where all the best Cuban tobacco is grown!), and Trinidad–a UNESCO World Heritage site.

How about you? What’s next on your travel bucket list? Have you ever been to Cuba?! What are your reccomendations?
