Well, I had really, really good intentions of doing this whole blog post on my top travel essentials. You know, like what I must have on me when I travel off this frozen little island, things I can’t live without on a plane, or what I use to deal with jetlag. I was finally going to buy photoshop and learn some new skills and even create a pretty product collage. Well intentions count, right??
Sadly no. Here I am sitting with my cappuccino in the airport and nothing has been posted about my upcoming trip.
I couldn’t go without saying anything!
You may or may not have heard that I am traveling to AFRICA!!!!! Woot!! It’s my first time stepping on the continent and I’m so excited…well I’m getting excited. Once I get past the next 36 hours of travel (2 red eyes and 4 planes), I think I’ll be pretty ecstatic. I’ll be going for just a week, and I’m first staying in Botswana and visiting Chobe National Park, and then driving to Zambia and staying in Livingstone. Our hotel there is walking distance to Victoria Falls…ah!
I know what you’re thinking…all that way for only a week? I’m kinda feeling the same way as I’m facing the starting line. When I was booking the trip I just thought, oh I’m young–I can handle it! Truth is, I can. It’s the farthest I’ve ever traveled by myself! It’s exhausting just thinking about it, but it’s the opportunity that I didn’t want to pass up. In cheesier words: carpe diem!
I truly think traveling is one of the greatest learning experiences for personal growth. No matter the exhaustion or the expense (well let’s be realistic here people, I’m not traveling first class and I still stay in hostels!), I think I’ll always find myself in other places. That’s my spiel on travel!
So, without further ado, bon voyage !!!! I will see you back here with a recap of my time in Africa….maybe a few updates along the way! 😉
